Scott + Melissa | Ocean Beach Engagement Shoot

From hat first step, even with sand in-between your toes....there is just something about walking out onto the beach that brings out 'the awesome' in everyone. Living in San Diego, let's be honest, spoils you. It's 75 and sunny most of the year, and there are certainly no shortages of beaches to enjoy. So when Scott and Melissa told me they wanted a beach engagement shoot, I was so excited to get to head out sea ward again! It's always great when brides try out their make-up artists before their wedding, so Melissa decided to get all glammed up for her shoot by way of the talented Kristi Colby of The Make-Up Box. These two have such a playful relationship, the laughs were non-stop. We fit right in at Ocean Beach, and with a quick wardrobe change and tons of prop-ertry (I believe that is the scientific word for it), these two made having fun look easy. Scott and Melissa, it was such a blast photographing the two of you! Cannot wait for your wedding this September 28th!

Cheeky ladies and Boudoir Eyes | San Diego Boudoir Photography

So by now cheeky ladies, no doubt, you’ve heard me over-the-moon talking about the ‘Boudoir Sessions’ I’ve been so lucky to photograph. Maybe even some of you have secretly wanted to sign up for a session of your own but were too shy to ask for details. You know who you are, and really... it's ok. Regardless of your excuse, you are in luck today because I have a treat for you!

After expressed permission from a few select bombshells, I can finally share this exclusive handfull of favorites with you to help better illustrate the awesomeness of these sessions.  Now don’t let these bedroom eyes fool you, as steamy as these images may feel, all of us were laughing the entire time through to ‘TLC 90’s Radio’ (oh yeah, I said it) while we sipped mimosas and snacked on chocolate dipped strawberries.  All hair and makeup artistry came courtesy of HMUA, Shauney Santiago.  We were also lucky enough to get to feature the ‘Boudor Eyes’ pallet from ‘Too Faced’ on all the bombshells. This sultry-meets-soft pallet just gave each lady that extra 'va-va-voom" that took each of their looks to the next level. Lastly, we had the pleasure of photographing these sessions in the heart of Downtown San Diego in luxe suites atop the ever amazing ‘Hotel Palomar’ and ‘U.S. Grant’.

Ben + Mallory | Eagle Rock Center for the Arts Wedding

What do you get when you cross the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts with winter wedding bad-assery?  Well my friends, you get a gorgeously crafted intimate wedding, complete with lavish neutrals and bold pops of red. All DIY infused alcohol minis and dinosaur cake toppers aside,  Jen Bergmark and her team at First Pick Planning Services really brought the day together seamlessly; and with so many custom touches from the bride and groom, I cannot stress it enough how much hiring an amazing wedding coordinator really does make a difference!

I always relish the adventure of travel whenever possible, so photographing up in Los Angeles was a nice change of pase for this San Dieagan!  Finding yourself in a new place, discovering beautiful structures (like those all over Pasadena) is always such an blast.  And I could tell that this bride and groom where all about 'the awesome' (hello honeymoon in India!) by the company they kept.  Ben and Mallory, your day was surrounded by such an outpouring of love from your friends and family, I wish you both a life filled with joy and adventure! {>o<}

Personal Texture Project | "Of the sun"

While my passion is photographing people, I have always found inspiration in textures: both natural and artificial. I found these two on the way to my weekly business meeting. It amazes me how the sun can mean so many things to different people. What inspired you today?

Richard + Megan | County of San Diego Clerk Harborside Wedding

Flown in all the way from New York and Los Angeles, these lovebirds met up in San Diego for their intimate harborside wedding at the County of San Diego Administration Building.  They got ready at the gorgeous Sofia Hotel in Downtown San Diego, which just so happened to be the hotel my husband and I stayed in when we got married!  The bride wore a white on white polka dotted Calvin Klein and the groom rocked a bow tie with suspenders.  After their ceremony, we headed out to Ocean Beach for the gorgeous view, de-lish cakes from Azucar, and a surprise dip into the Pacific Ocean. Oh yeah, you heard me right. Megan and Richard, you two have so much fun together; it’s amazing to be around. Thank you for inviting me to be a part of the adventure.

SinD + Mark + Fayte | Old Poway Park Family Photography

If you haven't been to Old Poway Park already, you do not know what you're missing. The trees, the quaint bridges, the old train station... if San Diego ever "sorta" had seasons, this would be the place to "sorta" see them.  These color co-ordinated three took advantage of the falling folliage for their family holiday session ( yeay illiteration! ). SinD and Mark both come from Rollerderby backgrounds, and their little one Fayte I'm sure is destin for derby greatness.  Is it bad that I love it when kiddos stick their toungs out at the camera?!  It always starts off as a rebellion, but when I do the same back to them the giggle start in and their done for.

In the words of Fin from Adventure Time, photographing this family was totally mathmatical!  Mark and SinD, I had such a blast rocking out your family session. Here's wishing you Happy Holidays!

Krista + Javier | La Jolla Hacienda Wedding Photography

I was so excited to have been invited to photograph the offbeat wedding of these two powerhouses! The groom was creater and master chef beind the infamous "Spanglish Eats", and the bride was the owner of the consulting house "KB Consulting". Their take on a La Jolla hacienda wedding was pure dreamy romance.  Suculants and dusty pink roses paired with doily, lace, and twine graced the long tables and stung lights; I really felt like I had walkied into a dream. These two had so much family and friends representing from the New York and New Jersey ... all with such fun, big personalities! Javier and Krista, It was such a pleasure photographing your wedding. You are surrounded by so much creativity and love; my the rest of your days be filled with joy. {>o<} Lauren

Kendrick Turns One | San Diego DIY Birthday Party

If you would have asked me 5 years ago what I would think of my future niece and nephew, I would have probably given you a less than stellar answer.  At that point, I’ll be honest… I was very much into “my world” and just the thought of kid-lets brought on images of screaming tantrums and puked-on shirts. Now that I’m an aunt, I have never been more in love with two children that I did not birth. This, of course, leads me to my little man turning one. My sister and mom (geniuses that they are) thought to throw a superhero themed birthday party, complete with mini-capes and masks.  It was such a good DIY idea that I wanted to share it with you just in case you are ever planning an event or party that requires  you to have super powers.                {>o<} Lauren
